Welcome to the Rutaaro Jack Russell Terrier website. We are a small show kennel based in West Yorkshire.
Ruth has many years experience of breeding and showing terriers starting with Jack's at working and hunt terrier shows in the late 1970's. Her father, Joe bought their 1st Jack Russell as a family pet in 1971 a litter was born a couple of years later and they started showing.
Ruth's father Joe Copping was very well known in the South of England for his Jack's and bred and showed the short and longer legged terriers under the Romaco affix.
When the Kennel Club announced it was accepting the Parson Russell onto its register Ruth and her father had dogs accepted onto the foundation register. When Ruth decided to move to Yorkshire she started breeding in her own right and the Rutaaro affix was established. Rutaaro is a combination of Ruth and her son Aaron's name.
Ruth showed, bred and judged Parsons successfully for many years but due to Ill health had to give this up.
A few years later Ruth met Steve and from a casual comment from a friend Ozzy our rescue Jack arrived supposedly to be rehomed but he's still here. Months later a KC registered Jack arrived, Caldbeckjack Ginger Spice at Rutaaro, Lola from the long line of Denise McKenzie-Greig a line going back to the breeding of John Peel. A couple of weeks later a new home was wanted for Lola's brother, Caldbeckjack Cool Hand Luke at Rutaaro, Charlie so he joined the pack too. Another new addition has since arrived, Klanhallion Black Magic at Rutaaro who is our black and white, taking Ruth back to her original Jacks. We are hoping for him to be our future stud dog.
We have started showing again with great success and look forward to carrying on.
